The Duratec is an all aluminum engine that comes in at just over 200 pounds. Originally available in front wheel drives, a 1.8L and 2.0L, it now comes to the US as a 2.3L and 2.5L in Ford Ranger, Ford Focus, Mazda3, Mazda6 and late-model Mazda Miata.

The all aluminum engine features dual overhead cams, 4 valves per cylinder, 5 main bearings, and multi-port fuel injection.

There are a number of enthusiats achieving 300HP naturally aspirated and 600+ turbocharged from this aluminum marvel.

For mid engine applications, an adapter to the VW type I gearbox. It is also acceptable for mating to the Hewland Mk8 or Mk9 and Mendeola tansaxles. With both the rear wheel drive and mid-engine applications you maintain the stock flywheel, clutch, and starter.
